A few weeks ago, the Vice President of Marketing on Nestle's ice cream brands came to campus for a recruiting event. Before the corporate presentation began, he approached a few of us and briefly introduced himself. He mentioned that Nestle recruits all over the country, but one of the biggest reasons they keep coming back to UCLA Anderson (aside from proximity, of course) is because UCLA Anderson strives to develop not only successful individuals, but also successful teams.
Up to this point in my life, I've harbored a 'what's in it for me' mentality, even though I often tell myself I'm not. (I suspect we're all guilty of volunteering for the sake of adding a line to our resume). Success has always been determined by what I did on my own - what was my GPA, my GMAT score, what I did at my job. But slowly, I am realizing the worth of succeeding as a team. No matter which career path we go down, we rarely can reach success without the help of others.
On the topic of teamwork, wanted to give a shoutout to my fall quarter learning team - Section D, Learning Team #1: Aileen Abaya, Tat Yang Koh, Charlene Azema, Eddie Lee, Dan Zhang (MIA)
