Long
time no blog.
It’s
the middle of the summer and I have been in San Francisco for the past month
working on my somewhat untraditional internship. Since, due to the wonderful
UCLA Start-up Fellowship - Wolfen Award, I am my own boss and my own
employee because I am starting my own company this summer. There are four
other Wolfen fellows who are doing the same, and I
think this is a really great and unique experience for all of us....
For those of you considering coming to business school, the Wolfen Award is the coolest thing, hands down, that I have experienced as an MBA student. I have basically been let loose in the city (SF) for the summer with my own idea and funding to get it going. …My idea is in the hotel design industry (which is where I worked prior to business school), so I have been interviewing vendors, hoteliers and entrepreneurs. The start-up people are my favorite. They are such an inspiration!... I have actually found a start-up inspiration gold mine just this Thursday, after visiting this place Plug & Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale. It's one building with 200 companies, from all over the world, trying to get off the ground, and office hours for VCs and Corporate sponsors. It was fascinating...while I have a great deal renting office space from my old company (where I worked prior to business school), I will be sure to visit the Plug & Play, and get UCLA entrepreneurship club on board too.
So the short of it is that I am in the middle of building my website and finalizing my business plan. I am also planning to present to a few potential clients and investors in the upcoming weeks. Will be sure to update you on my progress!
Meanwhile I hope you all have a great summer and hopefully see you at UCLA next year!
