Over winter break, I had the pleasure of co-hosting an informal coffee chat for 7 women applying to UCLA Anderson along with one of my section-mates. These coffee chats happen around the country during winter break and are coordinated by the Women’s Business Connection and the MBA Admissions office. Last year I attended one myself and it really sold me on Anderson, so it was fun to be on the other side this year. Since we were in sunny Santa Monica, most of us enjoyed iced beverages at Starbucks since it was almost 80 degrees that day!
The meeting was a great way to get to know more about UCLA Anderson on an informal basis. I got things started by saying no question is too dumb; last year, I asked about parking permits! We talked about everything Anderson: academics (my co-host and I were relieved first quarter was over), neighborhoods to live in near campus, club involvement, student social life, juggling personal lives with school, and the internship recruiting process.
The women we met with were putting the final touches on their applications, had lots of great questions and were full of enthusiasm (one even drove all the way out from Nevada for the coffee chat!). I am looking forward to reconnecting with one of the attendees later this week when she swings by campus for a tour, and I hope to see all of them on campus next fall!
