UCLA Anderson Class of 2019
Name: UCLA Anderson MBA Class: Hometown: Undergraduate Studies: Pre-MBA Career: Post-MBA Goals: |
Q. Introduce yourself to your classmates!
A. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration and Corporate Finance, I decided to join the Army to become an Army Ranger. I served for 4.5 years with the 75th Ranger Regiment as a rifleman, machine gunner, and machine gun team leader, including two deployments to Afghanistan.
Q. Why did you decide to pursue an MBA degree?
A. When I returned from my second deployment to Afghanistan last August, I decided that I was ready to leave the military, and I thought that the best way to transition back into the civilian world would be through attaining an MBA. For a long time I have had an interest in finance, but I also have a newfound interest in real estate. I am looking to combine these interests by pursuing a career in real estate finance. I am excited to learn from the faculty at both the Ziman Center for Real Estate and Anderson, as well as connect with my fellow Anderson students and Anderson alumni. I believe that during my time here in business school I will be able to develop the necessary skills to begin a successful career.
Q. Why did you decide to attend UCLA Anderson? #whyAnderson?
A. When I was looking into attending business school, I was biased towards returning to the West Coast where I had spent my undergraduate years. I was also looking for a top program that had strong connections within the finance community. UCLA Anderson fit both of these criteria and after visiting the campus and meeting with several members of the veterans club, I was blown away with the caliber of students who attended the school.
Q. What were you doing in the time leading up to starting the MBA program?
A. Right as I left the Army in December I found out that I had been admitted to Anderson. It was also at this time that I was accepted into a military veterans internship program with J.P. Morgan. The program is designed for veterans transitioning back into the civilian world with an interest in a career in finance. I spent the last six months working with the foreign exchange derivative sales team here in Los Angeles, and was able to learn from and work with an amazing team.
