Joanna Schochet, first year UCLA Anderson student, MBA Class of 2011, is one of this year’s two recipients of the John Wooden Leadership Fellowship award along with Archana Rajan, EMBA Class of 2011. The $25,000 prize is offered in recognition of student academic merit and special leadership contributions.
Joanna’s most recent position was with Chrysalis, a non-profit social services agency assisting homeless and low-income individuals. In her role as Executive, Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator, she grew volunteerism by 50% in six months and improved development strategies, resulting in an increase of $50,000 raised for the organization. She has assumed several leadership roles within the Anderson Student Association (ASA), including her newly elected position as ASA Vice President, External Affairs.
You can learn more about Joanna by viewing her MBA admission audio essay which we animated on our homepage (look for “The Comedian” under audio Animations).
Archana, a Senior Manager at Symantec Corporation, founded the Southern California chapter of Child Rights and You (CRY) in 2004 and currently serves as chapter leader. She has raised over $50,000 in the past five years in support of basic rights for underprivileged children, and has played an active role in the organization since founding of the chapter.
Congratulations Joanna and Archana for this very special honor.
