The Knapp Venture Competion has been funding Innovation snce 1982. Now in its 28th year, the student-run competition, hosted at UCLA Anderson School of Management by the Harold and Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Entrepreneur Association, provides UCLA Anderson students with an intensive learning experience in the venture initiation process. The competition is named for Cleon T. (Bud) and Betsy Wood Knapp, who generously gave an endowment in 1997, which supports this annual event along with other entrepreneurial initiatives.
The winners of the 2009 competition were announced this past week and include:
1st place, $15,000 – Perseus Medical - a self-contained video endoscope
2nd Place, $7,500 – Beacon Metrology - technology allowing silicon wafers to be monitored in real time
3rd Place, $5000 – Lottay – online gift card service
4th Place, $2,500 – Eryma – products supporting the chemotherapy treatment of cancer patients
5th Place, $1000 – Cardinal Fresh – track and traceability of agricultural-based perishable goods
$500 Applied Materials People’s Choice Award – Beacon Metrology
$4000 EO Accelerator Scholarship - Lottay
