OK, let me try to get this correct (this was only part of the group). From left to right: Conner Chen, Leonard Lin, Akimasa Kaneda, Akimasa's wife, Satiya's mom, Liwen's friend Celine, Liwen Tsai, Satiya Witzer, her uber-lovely daughter. I'm conveniently missing from the picture as I was playing photographer.
The lovely Satiya Witzer, her husband, her mom, and her dangerously-cute baby daughter hosted a brunch for fellow LA-area admits last weekend. The food was, in true LA-style, eclectic, with salad, quiche, danishes, takoyaki, Chinese pineapple cakes, mango sticky rice (though it wasn't finished in time so only a few were able to taste its awesomeness), Lindor truffles, and my personal favorite, a 3-pound, no-nonsense tub of Philly cream cheese.
A few others trickled in later on in the the afternoon: Bradley Ross and his wife, Lauren, Felipe Cusnir and his girlfriend (or friend, or wife? Sorry Felipe, I didn't get the details!), Ryan Aurori (actually Ryan was there early. I guess he also conveniently excused himself from the above-group photo), Amanda Isaacson and her husband, and Daisuke Watanabe and his wife & kid.
There he is: Ryan Aurori with Conner Chen. I wanted to take a candid photo but they insisted on posing & smiling for the camera.

Satiya pouring some bubbly getting ready to imbibe! She looks a bit too happy about it, doesn't she?
Notice the pain-staking color-coordination efforts made to please us to-be Bruins. To think that a former Trojan did this...*shakes head*
Fooding: Ryan Aurori, Daisuke Watanabe, Satiya's husbad Jared, Satiya, and 1/3 of Liwen Tsai.
Philly cream cheese, up front & center.
Cute kids frolicking about. Our gracious hostess in the forefront.
It was definitely a fun meet-up. Good food, good drinks, and great company, what more can one ask for? Thank you again Satiya, for hosting this brunch! And I admit, I was a horribly lazy photographer, as I didn't get any shots of the latter group that came by. I was too busy hoarding the pineapple cakes & Lindor truffles.
Oh, and one last thing: I went to Kerkhoff Hall today to grab my Anderson Bruin Card (yes, I understand that it's super-early and I am probably the first one to do this...So early, in fact, that the LuValle Commons bookstore had about 3% of Anderson materials in stock). It's a huge step up from the Bruin Card from my undergrad days, that's for sure! Be sure to upload your own photo online before you go to the Bruin Card Center on campus. You don't want to have that deer-in-the-headlights look.
Next week, I plan on doing a campus-related post. Anderson is only one part of the sprawling UCLA campus, which definitely deserves a mention!
